Saint Roderick of Cordoba (also known as Rudericus or Rodrigo) was a Catholic priest from Spain and venerated as a martyr. He was assaulted by his two brothers, one a Muslim and the other a lapsed Christian while attempting to intervene in a fight between them. Following the altercation his Muslim brother falsely accused him of apostasy for falling away from the Islamic faith. Roderick proclaimed he had always been a Christian, but was charged with apostasy and was imprisoned. Despite a long imprisonment during which he steadfastly maintained his Christian faith, he was ultimately beheaded.
